If you picked up some art from me today…
Thank you! I made these cards over the past 2 months. You can frame them, tack them to the wall, stick them on the fridge, use them as a bookmark or mail them (a 44¢ stamp will do). Shoot me an email if you want to let me know what happened to them.
Come and Get It!
I’ll be handing out 48 original works of art at the Whitney Museum today, so come and pick one up. They are small, durable, easy to transport, and absolutely free!
The annual Drawathon at Pratt is here! It starts tonight at 7 and goes until 7 tomorrow morning: bunches of rooms, tons of models. Hours of drawing fun! Come out, bring all the paper you have— $10. See you there!
So Many Postcards! The students from Marfa Elementary School sent me Thank You postcards— dozens of them and they’re all so beautiful!
My favorites include:
“Thank You for the teaching us! I showed my mom she was proud… I wish you where hear!”
“you are cool”
“Thank you for teaching us. we are writing a letter can you come over here for christmas. 1one kid took my mony.”
Studio In The Elementary School
During my last two weeks in Marfa, I did and internship at S.I.T.E.S. This is an incredible program that puts professional artists in the Marfa elementary school to ensure that every student receives art education. The Marfa School District cut art programming from their budget several years ago. S.I.T.E.S. stepped in and now students are exposed to painting, drawing, film and video, architecture, printmaking, and pottery. Each student gets at least one hour of art a week and they can elect to take absolutely free art classes after school. During my internship, I taught bookmaking to grades 1-6. It was an incredibly fun and enriching experience and I hope to visit again.
The program is at no cost to the students or the families, but it is expensive to run. Take a look at the Marfa Studio Arts website, and donate if you are able. Or stop by Marfa Studio Arts (located on Highway 90 between The Pizza Foundation and Ballroom) and purchase a pack of Christmas cards designed by Marfa Elementary School students!

Back in Brooklyn
I left Marfa about a week ago, travelled to Dallas and then across the deserts to San Diego and on up to Los Angeles. With over 6,000 miles added in the past 3 months, I left my little Hyundai with my brother and headed home to Brooklyn. I’m so glad I got to live in Marfa for so long. I can’t wait till the next adventure!
I mailed out more postcards today, so if you’ve been waiting for one its on the way! And if you haven’t ordered one yet, get to it!
